I think it is appropriate to point out how sincerely grateful I am to all of the essential workers at this time. With my mom being a nurse and all of the hospital visits we have had over the years with Paeyton, I have always been so grateful for first responders, pharmacists, doctors, nurses, therapists and staff. Now more than ever because I know they're working around the clock and sacrificing their own health to protect ours. My appreciation is at a new level for those who we didn't realize made our world go around. Farmers, truck drivers, mail delivery services, grocery store employees, government employees, grocery delivery, construction workers. And a those around San Diego who are donating their time to food banks to make sure no one goes hungry, calling elderly to make sure they're ok, donating PPE supplies.. I have also heard of local high school and middle school students on a robotics team making face shields from their 3D printer. Have I mentioned how much I love our local sunglass shop, Blenders Eyewear? They are switching gears to make and donate 30,000 pairs of safety glasses to hospitals. They also have a goal to donate $100k of proceeds to Direct Relief by 4/30. It warms my heart to see the pure goodness coming out of such a horrible situation.
Speaking of gratitude, I am so grateful for technology. I love being able to have some sort of personal interaction with all of my friends, family and clients especially during these times. What would we do with out it? I am looking forward to my kids starting distance learning on Monday. Nervous for how it will actually go, but excited for them to have a new sense of normal. Can we all agree, teachers need a huge raise?!?
What has everyone been up to? I have been working on updating my website, booking site, creating content for social media, I'm now offering gift cards and I have been applying for grants/loans to get through all of this. I suppose I should start to think about what we are going to do for Easter.. whoops! Nothing like waiting til the last minute. I have been spending time with the kids and organizing my house. With Paeyton having a compromised immune system, cleaning is like next level over here. I'm thankful that Color Street is still available and shipping so that I can have cute nails and a little self-care. Does anyone else have the driest hands on earth? With that thought, I wanted to feature Amika's signature hydrating body cream. It's so silky and has that classic, amazing Amika scent.
